First Visit

Our office follows the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and American Dental Association (ADA) recommendations that children should be first seen by a dentist around their first birthday. This first visit will consist of checking for cavities, gum disease, observing the child’s occlusion for correct alignment of the jaws and evaluation of the proper development of the teeth. The appointment also includes a final consultation to address any further questions or necessary dental treatment. The most important part of this visit, however, is getting to know and becoming comfortable with our doctors and staff. A pleasant, comfortable first visit builds trust and helps put the child at ease during future dental visits. We encourage parents to seek an initial visit at this age because it not only fosters a trusting relationship between you and your child and our staff, but it also enables early intervention if problems do exist. We feel that it paves the way for your child to achieve optimum oral health throughout his/her lifetime, which is our ultimate goal.

Beginning after age three, your child should routinely have her/his teeth cleaned every six months to maintain good oral health.

While at our office, your child is welcome to enjoy watching Disney movies, play video games or play in our kid-friendly toy room. Parents are free to sit back, relax, enjoy a cup of coffee or connect to the internet via our free WiFi!
